This weekend the WAWFL will support Know Your Score, a Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA) initiative partnering with the West Australian Football Commission to dedicate a round of football across Men's Health Week.
The campaign promotes men’s health and raises awareness amongst the football community about prostate cancer - one of the most serious men’s health issues in Australia.
Although focussing on Men's Health, females are a major reference group for men and keeping them in-check when it comes to them and if they 'know their score'.
This weekend we urge all WAWFL members to have a chat to the men in their lives; dads, brothers, boyfriends, friends and family and ask if they're aware of their current health situation.
PCFA have again enlisted the services of West Coast Eagles legend Glen Jakovich, to be the patron of the Know your Score Round to help spread the message.
“Being a professional athlete, I know the importance of being proactive about your health and wellbeing,” he said.
“I have been touched by cancer in my family, and I want to do everything possible to be here to watch my children grow up.
The WAWFL, WAAFL and WACFL have all joined the campaign, with the main focus of the round occuring at a WAFL level.
WAWFL clubs are encouraged to utilise their information packs provided by PCFA to spread the message to all players and club members.
The round was dedicated to this weekend to coincide with Men’s Health Week from June 15 - 21, 2015.
