EAST Fremantle will be looking to keep their hopes of a top-two finish alive when they take on Coastal Titans at East Fremantle Oval this Sunday, June 22nd.
After an inconsistent start to the season, East Fremantle have won three of their past four matches and head into the match against the WAWFL powerhouse just one win shy of equal top spot on the ladder.
A win for the Sharks would put them firmly in the race for a top two finish as the WAWFL season enters its business end.
They face arguably the toughest test in the WAWFL however, a rampaging Coastal Titans who have lost just two games for the year and boast a percentage of 426.49%.
The whopping percentage is testament to the killer instinct of the Titans who have lost just one match since April and beat East Fremantle by 58 points when the sides last met in Round 6.
Jodie White and Aimee Schmidt did the damage up forward for the Titans that day, kicking two each, but it was the defensive work which proved the difference as 6-time Premiers kept East Fremantle to a measly two goals.
Despite the recent loss East Fremantle will be confident of an upset having handed the Titans one of their only two defeats this year.
After trailing by five points at three quarter time in their Round 3 clash, East Fremantle managed to keep the Titans goalless in the final quarter to win by just one point in one of the upsets of the season.
Melissa Caulfield kicked 4 goals for East Fremantle in a match winning performance, highlighting why she was selected by the Western Bulldogs at number four in this years’ AFL Women’s draft.
If East Fremantle wants to replicate their Round 3 win they’ll need not only their stars shining, but to quell the influence of Trisha Ramsay.
The Titans forward has not only kicked 20 goals for the season but comes into the match in red hot form having kicked 7 last week in the Titans 121-point win over South Fremantle.
