THIS weekends’ match of the round in the Reserves pits Joondalup against South Fremantle in a must win game for both sides.
With just four points separating South Fremantle in third place and Joondalup in fifth, a win this weekend for either side could prove vital in the race to the 2014 Finals.
After starting the season with five wins in a row, South Fremantle sat equal top of the ladder at the end of round 6 but has won just one match in their past three to slide to third place.
A win against an improving Joondalup would keep them in touch with the top two and keep the hopes of a 2014 Premiership alive after being knocked out in the Semi Finals last year.
Joondalup proves a tough test for the Bulldogs however, with the improving Falcons pushing South Fremantle to the limit back in Round 2 before eventually succumbing to a 3-goal loss.
Trailing by just five points at three quarter time, the Falcons couldn’t compete with last years’ Semi Finalists in the final quarter, managing just one goal as the Bulldogs controlled the quarter to take the four points.
If Joondalup can muster up a win this weekend however they would leapfrog the Bulldogs on the ladder and could finish the round as high as third and in with a real chance of finishing in the top two at the end of the season.
Bounce down for the Reserves is at 12:00pm this Sunday, June 22nd at Anning Park
