Peel Thunder have completed a fairytale season to run out 15-point winners over Subiaco in the Optus WAFLW Grand Final.

A dominant second term set up the victory, with Peel going from last to Premiers in one-season under new coach Steve Markham.

Subiaco couldn’t match the speed of a young and vibrant Peel side throughout the contest, with the wind playing havoc early in proceedings.

Fifteen-year-old Ella Roberts impressed once again in the decider, kicking two goals in the second quarter to set up the victory.

Kira Phillips was a presence up forward for the Thunder, while Chloe Wrigley took out the Lou Knitter Medal for best on ground for her strong in-and-under work in the midfield.

Subiaco struck first in the opening term through Maggie McLachlan, before Peel took control of the contest.

Three goals in the second term pushed Peel to a 12-point lead at the main break.

Difficult conditions played out in the second half, with both teams unable to impact the scoreboard into a strong swirling breeze.

Subiaco kicked one late in the third quarter, before a scoreless last term all but sealed the result.

The premiers receive a $5000 grant from Optus, going towards improving their program at the club.
