Swan Districts have created history and won back-to-back flags for the first time in the club’s history, defeating the Coastal Titans by 13-points.
After a slow start which saw them behind at the first break, Swan Districts controlled the rest of the game to eventually win 7.6 (48) to 5.5 (35) in front of a huge crowd at HBF Arena.
The two sides finished the season in first and second on the ladder respectively and since the first ball was bounced in 2014 seemed destined to meet each other for a replay of the 2013 Grand Final.
When the time finally came for the next instalment in this epic encounter the game lived up to the headline billing, providing a tight, tough contest from the first bounce.
Titans took the lead early and controlled the majority of the first quarter to take a 7-point lead into the first change, but the reigning Premiers rallied in the second, kicking three goals four to one goal one to lead at the main break.
After half time it was a tale of what ifs for the Titans with inaccurate kicking proving costly. They had more shots on goal but could only manage to kick one while Swan Districts made the most of their opportunities and extended their lead to 11-points heading into the last.
From there it proved too much for the Titans as Swan Districts shut the game down to again hold them to just one goal for the quarter.
Swan Districts Captain Kara Donnellan was awarded the Louise Knitter Medal for her Best on Ground display.
Earlier in the day it was the same clubs but different results, as Coastal Titans defeated Swan Districts by 3-points in the Reserves Grand Final.
Swan Districts jumped out of the blocks early and looked like they were set to go back-to-back in the Reserves as well, but the Titans rallied to take the see-sawing battle and Premiership back to Grenville Reserve.
The win capped off a fantastic year for the Titans who dominated throughout the home and away season to finish with only one loss.
Coastal Titans newcomer Rachel Ortlepp was awarded Best on Ground while Asha Price kicked 5 for the losers.
