The Joondalup Falcons have powered past the determined Coastal Titans to confirm themselves a well-fought out spot in the 2016 WAWFL Reserves Grand Final.

It was finals like atmosphere at its absolute best, as the occasion was met with four quarters of fast paced, high quality football from both sides, but it was the Falcons with all the answers as they ran out 31 point winners.

The Falcons had their dream start, kicking three unanswered first term goals courtesy of Tess Moynihan, Ashton Hill and Elana De Santis. From here, the win was well set up - the Falcons never looked back.

There wasn’t much separating the two sides in the second term, as each team only scored one major each. The Titans kicked their first and only goal for the first half, as Danielle Fagents won the set shot from a free kick and converted truly, whilst Ann McMahon scored the only major for the Falcons in that quarter.

Falcon Ashton Hill worked hard throughout the ground and pushed hard for the ball, whilst teammate Teighan Kelly was impressive as a strong defensive unit and ball carrier.

The second half saw the Falcons kick three goals to the Titans two, with the low scoring affair a true reflection of the games overall intensity as the girls skills were at their very best.

Falcons Hill and McMahon both finished with two goals a piece as the games only multiple goal scorers.

Despite their loss, the Titans managed to kick the final goal of the match courtesy of Jasmine King and will be looking to take that momentum into this Sunday’s preliminary final, as their second place finish on the 2016 WAWFL reserves ladder means they have two chances to make the grand final.

The Falcons finished 2016 as the minor premiers, and will now be looking to back up finishing first on the ladder with a premiership win. Not only have they earnt themselves a week off, but a spot in the grand final, and an opportunity to win the reserves side their first flag since 2007.
